History
Lane 8 is the stage name of Daniel Goldstein, an American DJ, producer, and electronic musician born in 1990 in San Francisco and raised in Palo Alto, California. He played in rock bands covering Nirvana as a teenager before moving into hip-hop-influenced beatmaking, and later into deep house and melodic techno. His breakthrough came in 2012 with a DJ set filmed in the empty dining room of San Francisco's Pork Store Cafe, followed soon after by his debut single "Don't Want You Back." He signed to Above & Beyond's Anjunadeep label in 2013 and has since released five studio albums: Rise (2015), Little by Little (2018), Brightest Lights (2020), Reviver (2022), and Childish (2024), featuring collaborators such as Matthew Dear, Poliça, and Solomon Grey. In 2016 he founded This Never Happened, a record label and phone-free concert series built around unrecorded, fully present live experiences, which grew into sold-out shows worldwide. Pete Tong named him a "Future Star," and Dancing Astronaut ranked him among its "25 Artists to Watch."
