History

Vintage Culture is the project of Brazilian DJ and producer Lukas Ruiz, who rose with the Brazilian bass wave and later moved toward deeper house and melodic techno. He comes from Mato Grosso do Sul, far from the country's main club cities, and built a following through relentless touring across Brazil. His remix of Sofi Tukker's Drinkee with Slow Motion (2016) was one of the tracks that carried the Brazilian bass sound onto international dance floors, with its rubbery bass and stripped, hypnotic groove. In the Dark (2019), made with Fancy Inc, showed the darker, more melodic direction his sets were taking. He founded the brand and label Só Track Boa, which grew into a major Brazilian festival and party series, and he has become a regular presence in international DJ rankings and at big festivals. Moody vocal samples, rolling basslines and long, patient builds mark his music, trading the bounce of early Brazilian bass for a darker, club-focused pulse.
