History
Jennifer Lopez, born July 24, 1969, in the Bronx, New York, is an American singer, songwriter, and performer of Puerto Rican descent. She began her entertainment career as a dancer, appearing as a "Fly Girl" on the sketch-comedy show In Living Color from 1991 to 1993, before crossing into music. Her 1999 debut album, On the 6, produced the US Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "If You Had My Love," blending pop, R&B, Latin, and dance influences that would define her sound. In 2001, with her second album J.Lo and the film The Wedding Planner released the same week, she became the first woman to simultaneously hold the No. 1 album and No. 1 film in the United States. Her 2002 remix album J to tha L-O! The Remixes was the first remix collection to top the Billboard 200. Later hits include "I'm Real," "All I Have," and 2011's "On the Floor," the best-selling single of her career. She has sold more than 80 million records worldwide and holds six Guinness World Records.
