History
Christina Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980, in Staten Island, New York, and grew up largely in the Pittsburgh area. She got her start as a cast member on Disney's "The All New Mickey Mouse Club" (1993-1994), alongside future stars Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, then sang "Reflection" for the film Mulan before signing with RCA Records. Her 1999 self-titled debut album made her a teen-pop idol, topping the Billboard 200 and producing three US number-one singles: "Genie in a Bottle," "What a Girl Wants," and "Come on Over Baby." She shifted to a bolder, more soul-influenced sound on Stripped (2002), scoring the hits "Dirrty" and "Beautiful," and returned to the top of the album chart with the retro-styled Back to Basics (2006). In 2011 her feature on Maroon 5's "Moves like Jagger" hit number one, making her the fourth woman in history to top the Hot 100 across three consecutive decades. Known for a four-octave vocal range and melismatic style, Aguilera has won five Grammy Awards and sold over 100 million records worldwide, and also coached on the reality show The Voice.
