History
DaBaby, born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk on December 22, 1991, in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, at age six and built his identity as a rapper there. He began releasing mixtapes in 2015 under the name Baby Jesus before rebranding, and signed with Interscope Records in January 2019. His debut album Baby on Baby (2019) produced the top-ten hit "Suge," and his second album Kirk (2019) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. His third album, Blame It on Baby (2020), included "Rockstar" (featuring Roddy Ricch), which spent seven non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 amid the George Floyd protests, went quintuple platinum, and earned a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year. He has also guested on major hits including Dua Lipa's "Levitating" and Jack Harlow's "Whats Poppin" remix, both of which peaked at number two on the Hot 100. His sound blends Southern hip-hop with trap production and a rapid-fire, percussive delivery.
