Bruno Mars (born Peter Gene Hernandez, October 8, 1985, in Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American singer-songwriter, producer and dancer known for blending pop, R&B, funk and soul with retro showmanship. As a child in Hawaii he performed an Elvis Presley impersonation act before moving to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue music. He first made his name as a songwriter and producer with the team the Smeezingtons, then broke through as an artist via his 2009 feature on B.o.B's "Nothin' on You." His debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010), and Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) delivered hits like "Just the Way You Are," "Grenade" and "Locked Out of Heaven," while 24K Magic (2016) won the Grammy for Album of the Year. His 2014 feature on Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" became Billboard's best-performing song of the 2010s decade. In 2021 he teamed with Anderson .Paak as the duo Silk Sonic. Mars has sold over 150 million records, holds ten Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, and has won 16 Grammy Awards, making him one of the best-selling artists in music history.
