History
A duo built from two very different backgrounds: Aigel Gaysina, a poet from Tatarstan who performs the text, and Ilya Baramia, a St Petersburg electronic producer whose broken, brittle beats sit under it. «Татарин» (2017) was the track that carried them out of a small audience, a recitative written from the position of a woman waiting for a man in prison, delivered flat and fast with Russian and Tatar alternating inside the same verse. The music avoids warmth almost entirely: cracked percussion, cold synth tones, long stretches with nothing to lean on. «Пыяла», sung in Tatar, later reached an audience far beyond the duo's own when it was used in a Russian television series, and it charted internationally in 2023. The bilingual delivery stayed the signature throughout.
