Style recipe for Suno v5
Microhouse
Microhouse groove from the 2000s: glitch clicks, soft minimal kick, tiny percussion, hypnotic and intimate in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Microhouse strips house music down to the bone. It grew from minimal techno and the glitch experiments of the early 1990s, and its first echoes turn up on a 1993 glitch album by the German experimental artist Oval. The name belongs to journalist and DJ Philip Sherburne, who coined it in a July 2001 article for The Wire after hearing Perlon's Superlongevity compilation in 1999 and feeling that house had been reduced to rhythm, soul and silence. The genre keeps the 4/4 pulse at 115 to 130 BPM but swaps standard drum-machine hits for clicks, static, glitches and scraps of noise, and builds melodies from micro-samples of voices and everyday sounds, as on Akufen's Deck the House. Vocals, when present, tend to be flat, simple and nonsensical. Jan Jelinek's Loop-finding-jazz-records and Luomo's Vocalcity became cult touchstones, labels such as Perlon, Kompakt, Playhouse and Force Tracks carried the sound around 2000, and Ricardo Villalobos and Matthew Herbert worked in the same orbit. The minimal techno boom of the mid-2000s pushed it into German, French and Canadian clubs, and later producers including Four Tet, Jon Hopkins, Pantha du Prince and Rival Consoles kept its ideas moving.
