Style recipe for Suno v5
Indie Dance
Indie dance from the 2010s: analog synth lead, post punk bass, gated snare, melancholic and dreamy in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Indie dance, also called alternative dance, grafts the melodic song structure of indie and alternative rock onto electronic beats, synths, samples and the club focus of post-disco; The Sacramento Bee described it as postmodern Eurosynth technopop new wave in a blender. Most of its acts are British and signed to small labels. New Order count as the first group of the genre for their 1982-83 recordings, which welded post-punk to electro and synth-pop in the manner of Kraftwerk, and the Haçienda club they founded in Manchester with Factory Records became the genre's hub in 1980s Britain, while the style itself fed Madchester and later trip hop and rave. Saint Etienne brought dance rhythms into indie songwriting. In the 1990s The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers crossed over from the dance world, and The Fat of the Land debuted at number one in 25 countries in 1997. Björk folded the style into Debut and Post, with production from Tricky, Howie B and Graham Massey. In the early 2000s electroclash acts such as Ladytron and Fischerspooner mixed new wave with electronics, and in the mid-2000s NME popularised new rave for Klaxons and their glowsticks.
