History
Saba, born Tahj Malik Chandler on July 17, 1994, is a rapper, singer, and producer from the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side. In 2011 he co-founded the independent hip-hop collective Pivot Gang with his brother Joseph Chilliams, his cousin John Walt, and several childhood friends; he later also formed the trio Ghetto Sage with Smino and Noname. Saba built early buzz with the mixtapes GETCOMFORTable (2012) and ComfortZone (2014), then broke through nationally via his verse on Chance the Rapper's Acid Rap (2013) and a later feature on Coloring Book. His debut album, Bucket List Project, arrived in 2016, followed by Care for Me (2018) - a widely praised concept album he wrote after John Walt was stabbed to death, turning grief into one of the decade's most personal rap records. He followed it with Few Good Things (2022) and a 2025 collaborative project with veteran producer No I.D. Saba remains closely tied to Chicago's independent rap scene, releasing music through his own Pivot Gang, LLC.
