Inspiration, name-free
Problem
G-funk from the 2010s: whining synth lead, deep moog bass, funk samples, swaggering and warm in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
Style: G-funk
History
Problem, born Jason L. Martin and now performing as JasonMartin, is a rapper, songwriter, and record producer from Compton, California, though he was actually born in Wurzburg, West Germany, in 1985. He entered the industry as a ghostwriter, drawing praise from Nas and Talib Kweli for a verse he wrote for producer Terrace Martin on a Snoop Dogg compilation. An early deal with Universal Republic went nowhere, but he rebounded through the 2010s with guest verses that became his real breakthrough: E-40's "Function" (2012) and Childish Gambino's "Sweatpants" (2013) both went RIAA gold, and Rich Homie Quan's "Walk Thru" (2014) went platinum and hit the Billboard Hot 100. His own single "Like Whaaat," featuring Bad Lucc (2013), remains his most successful lead track and anchored his debut EP, Understand Me. He also runs the independent label Diamond Lane Music Group and, in 2024, performed at Kendrick Lamar's "The Pop Out" concert in Los Angeles.
