History
Jony (born Jahid Afrail oglu Huseynli, February 29, 1996, in Baku, Azerbaijan) is a Russian pop/R&B singer-songwriter. He moved to Moscow with his family at age four, studied international business at the State University of Management, and only turned to music seriously after finishing his master's degree, having started out posting cover songs on Instagram. In 2018 he co-founded the RAAVA Music label with fellow artists Andro and El'man. His breakthrough single "Alleya" ("Alley") passed 100 million YouTube views, and 2019's "Kometa" topped the Russian Apple Music chart, becoming his signature song. He released the album "Nebesnye Rozy" in 2020, went solo in 2021, then released "Ne Ishchite Vo Mne Zhanry" (2022), featuring HammAli & Navai, Anna Asti, TLK and Erika Lundmoen. He has won the Golden Gramophone, Zhara Music Awards, and Muz-TV awards, and made Forbes Russia's "30 Under 30" in 2023. A genuine trivia note: in 2021 he competed masked as "the Crocodile" on Russia's "The Masked Singer" and won the season; his stage name traces back to a childhood nickname after cartoon character Johnny Bravo.
