History
Ciara Princess Harris was born October 25, 1985, in Fort Hood, Texas, and rose to prominence out of Atlanta, Georgia. Discovered by producer Jazze Pha, she broke through with her 2004 debut album Goodies, whose title track (featuring Petey Pablo) topped the Billboard Hot 100, while "1, 2 Step" (with Missy Elliott) and "Oh" (with Ludacris) both reached No. 2. Goodies went quadruple platinum and earned Ciara the nickname "Princess of Crunk" or "First Lady of Crunk&B" for fusing R&B vocals with Southern crunk and dance-pop production. Her 2006 follow-up, Ciara: The Evolution, gave her a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. Later hits include "Love Sex Magic" with Justin Timberlake and "Body Party." By 2019 she had sold over 45 million records worldwide, and that year she also appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, becoming only the third musician to do so since the issue launched in 1964. She married NFL quarterback Russell Wilson in 2016.
