Mya Marie Harrison, professionally known as Mya, is an American R&B and pop singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress born October 10, 1979, in Washington, D.C. After dancing on BET's "Teen Summit," she signed with Interscope's University Records and released her self-titled debut album in 1998, which went platinum and produced the top-ten hit "It's All About Me" with Sisqo. That same year she featured on Pras's worldwide chart-topper "Ghetto Supastar," earning her first Grammy nomination. Her 2000 album "Fear of Flying" went platinum behind "Case of the Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do)," which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2001 she joined Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Pink on "Lady Marmalade" for the "Moulin Rouge!" soundtrack, winning an MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year. Mya has sold more than 20 million records worldwide, earned a Grammy nomination for 2016's "Smoove Jones," and built a parallel acting career in films including "Chicago" and "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights."
