Style recipe for Suno v5
Vocal Trance
Vocal trance from the 2000s: saw lead, piano chords, rolling bass, euphoric and dreamy in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Vocal trance took shape in the early 1990s, while trance itself was still growing out of the techno and EBM scene of Frankfurt. Early trance records already laid vocal samples over the beat, and the first clear examples of the subgenre arrived in 1992 and 1993: Dance 2 Trance's P.ower Of A.merican N.atives in 1992 and Jam & Spoon's Right in the Night in 1993. It grew out of electropop, europop and house: it sounds like pop but is built like house. A typical track runs six to eight minutes: an intro of progressive beats, a melodic middle where a voice, most often a female mezzo-soprano or soprano, floats over fast, bright synths and a bass pattern, then an outro that brings back the opening rhythm. It has been described as grand, soaring and operatic, although male singers such as Jonathan Mendelsohn appear too. Pop-style vocals pushed further into trance in the early 2000s, and from the late 2000s to the mid 2010s Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance, Paul van Dyk and Above & Beyond stayed among the most popular names in trance. In 2017 underground DJs such as Nina Kraviz began folding trance back into their sets.
