Style recipe for Suno v5
Shoegaze
Shoegaze wall from the 1990s: distorted guitar, reverb guitar, buried vocals, dreamy and melancholic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Shoegaze took shape in Britain in the late 1980s, built on Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, the Velvet Underground and 1960s psychedelic pop, and on the example of Cocteau Twins, The Jesus and Mary Chain and above all My Bloody Valentine. Kevin Shields' glide guitar on that band's 1988 records, the album Isn't Anything among them, set the template: layers of bent, flanged, distorted guitar pushed through reverb, delay and tremolo until no single instrument stands out, with the vocals sunk deep in the mix. The scene around London and the Thames Valley, with Ride, Slowdive, Lush, Chapterhouse and Moose, shared producers and the labels Creation and 4AD. The name began as a jibe at musicians who stood still and stared at their effects pedals. Moose, the band said to have prompted the joke, had a plainer excuse: singer Russell Yates was reading lyric sheets placed on the floor. The first confirmed print use came in NME in May 1991. That same year Loveless marked the peak, and then grunge and Britpop swept the scene aside. Listeners finding it online brought it back, and nu gaze with acts such as M83, blackgaze, grungegaze and zoomergaze followed.
