Style recipe for Suno v5
Krautrock
Krautrock groove from the 1970s: motorik drums, analog synth, hypnotic bass, hypnotic and spacious in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Krautrock grew up in West Germany in the late 1960s and early 1970s, partly out of the 1968 student protests, as young musicians turned away from both schlager and American pop and tried to build a popular culture free of the Nazi past. The bands mixed psychedelic rock with electronics, long improvisation, tape techniques and early synthesizers, and moved away from rock's rhythm and blues roots. The signature is the motorik beat, a steady, kick-heavy 4/4 that keeps pushing forward, heard on Can's "Mother Sky", on Neu!'s debut album and in Kraftwerk's "Autobahn". Irmin Schmidt and Holger Czukay of Can had studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen. The name was popularised by British music journalists, built on the slur "kraut", and most of the musicians rejected it; Faust recorded a 12-minute track called "Krautrock" and later distanced themselves from the word. Alongside Can and Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Faust, Neu!, Cluster and Amon Düül II defined the scene. It fed ambient, techno, post-punk and post-rock, David Bowie's Low (1977) sits on Classic Rock's list of five essential krautrock albums, and Radiohead have played Can's "The Thief" in concert.
