Style recipe for Suno v5
Motorik
Motorik krautrock from the 1970s: motorik drum beat, hi hat drive, pulsing bass, hypnotic and futuristic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Motorik is a single drum pattern, the beat most closely tied to krautrock. Jaki Liebezeit of Can pioneered it, and Klaus Dinger of Neu!, another early pioneer, called it the "Apache beat". The pattern is four-four at a moderate tempo, repeated bar after bar with almost no change, sometimes for ten minutes or more, over a simple bass line, with a splash or crash cymbal marking the top of a verse or chorus. Neu! ran it through the whole of "Hallogallo", and it drives one section of Kraftwerk's "Autobahn", a song meant to feel like a drive down the German motorway. Journalists named it: Motorik is German for motor skills, and the word may also pun on "motoric", an old critics' term for relentless ostinato. Dinger insisted it was "very much a human beat". The critic Chris Jones called Moe Tucker's drumming for the Velvet Underground proto-motorik, and after krautrock the beat spread through post-punk and indie: Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Stereolab, LCD Soundsystem, Iggy Pop, Arctic Monkeys and Sam Fender. Hawkwind even lifted the "Hallogallo" pattern for "Opa-Loka" in 1975.
