Style recipe for Suno v5
Comedy Rap
Comedy novelty rap from the 2000s: funky sample loop, boom bap drums, goofy synth lead, playful and swaggering in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Comedy rap is hip-hop made to be funny, usually through parody or satire. In the 1980s, before gangsta rap darkened the mood, acts like the Beastie Boys carried a lighter, jokier style, and Run-DMC's "Christmas in Hollis" (1987) and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's "Parents Just Don't Understand" (1988) count as comedy rap outright. De La Soul, with 3 Feet High and Rising in 1989, became the template for modern satirical rap. The tools are exaggeration: stereotyped lyrics, lazy rhymes, cheap videos, invented personas. "Weird Al" Yankovic parodied hits with "Amish Paradise", and in 2005 The Lonely Island joined Saturday Night Live, where "Lazy Sunday" drew over five million views before NBC took it down. Their songs sound macho in order to mock machismo, and they went on to work with Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. The sharpest joke may belong to Tyler, the Creator: in 2016 he revealed that "Yonkers", his 2011 breakout, began as a parody of New York rappers. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took "Thrift Shop" into charts around the world in 2012, and the SoundCloud era added meme rap, written to go viral, with names like Yuno Miles.
