Style recipe for Suno v5

Houston Rap

swaggeringhypnoticwarm65–85 BPM

Houston rap from the 2000s: slow sub bass, clean funk guitar, hard rim clap, swaggering and hypnotic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

Houston rap began in the South Park neighborhood in the 1980s with battle rappers, and its first commercial success came through Rap-A-Lot Records, founded by James Prince, then a used car salesman. His Geto Boys settled into a trio of Scarface, Willie D and Bushwick Bill, turned to a Southern sound of prominent basslines, blues guitar and vocal samples on Grip It! On That Other Level in 1989, and with "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" showed that Texas could make hip-hop that mattered. UGK, from Port Arthur, paired Pimp C's laid-back beats, drawn from gospel and blues, with Bun B's verses, peaked with Ridin' Dirty in 1996 and appeared on Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin'" in 2000. The city's signature arrived around 1991, when DJ Screw invented chopped and screwed: records slowed down, drums intensified, vocals distorted and short phrases looped into a psychedelic haze, sold on tapes from his home and later his store. The slowness has been likened to Houston's humid heat, its jammed roads and the drag of lean, the codeine syrup Screw used heavily before his fatal overdose in 2000. Michael "5000" Watts and Swishahouse then took screwed music mainstream.
