History
The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2001 by singer Brandon Flowers (also keyboards, bass) and guitarist Dave Keuning. After cycling through short-term bassists and drummers, Mark Stoermer (bass, rhythm guitar) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums) joined in 2002, cementing the classic lineup. Their sound blends alternative rock, pop rock, post-punk revival, new wave, and later heartland rock influences. The band's 2004 debut album, Hot Fuss, produced the single "Mr. Brightside," written from a riff Keuning first handed Flowers on a four-track tape. That song became one of rock's most enduring singles, staying on the UK Official Singles Chart for a record-breaking run years after release. The Killers have released seven studio albums, every one of them topping the UK Albums Chart, including Sam's Town (2006), which paid tribute to Flowers' hometown and earned the band their first BRIT Award. Across their career the band has picked up seven Grammy nominations.
