Cold soviet political new wave from the 1980s: chorused lead bass, angular staccato guitar, cold synth stabs, defiant and menacing in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

Mikhail Borzykin founded Televizor in Leningrad in 1984 and registered it with the Leningrad Rock Club. Within a couple of years the band was known less for its records than for the trouble around them: "Tvoy papa fashist" and "Vyyti iz-pod kontrolya" were played at rock club festivals, after which Televizor was cut from broadcasts and kept off certain stages. The albums of that stretch are "Shestvie ryb" (1985) and "Otechestvo illyuziy" (1987). The sound is cold and nervous, synthesizers laid over a sharp rhythm guitar, with Borzykin's clipped delivery closer to an accusation than to singing. Of the whole Leningrad wave this was the most directly political group: the lyrics did not hide behind allegory, and that decided both the reputation and the problems with venues. Borzykin still leads the band and records under the same name.
