History
Taylor Dayne, born Leslie Wunderman on March 7, 1962, in Baldwin, New York, emerged in the late 1980s as one of the defining voices of American dance-pop and freestyle. Her powerhouse alto and Latin-freestyle-rooted sound broke through with the 1987 debut album "Tell It to My Heart," which went 2x Platinum and spun off hits like the title track and "Prove Your Love." Her second album matched that success, and across her career she landed seven US Top 10 singles, including "I'll Always Love You," "Don't Rush Me," "With Every Beat of My Heart," "Love Will Lead You Back," and "I'll Be Your Shelter," plus Top 20 hits "Heart of Stone" and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love." She has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, earned two Grammy nominations, an American Music Award, and multiple New York Music Awards, and both Rolling Stone and Billboard have ranked her among the most successful dance artists in chart history. She has also worked as an actress and is an outspoken advocate for early cancer detection following her own 2022 colon cancer diagnosis.
