History
Smoki Mo (born Alexander Tsikhov, September 10, 1982, in Leningrad) is a Russian rapper, beatmaker, and sound producer active since the late 1990s. He started in Saint Petersburg's Baltiysky Klan rap scene, performing in groups like Smok and Dinastiya Di, before going solo in 2004 with the debut album "Kara-Te" (Karate) on Respect Production. His discography grew with "Planeta 46" (2006), "Vykhod iz Temnoty" (2010), and "Vremya Tigra" (2011); in 2011 he joined the Gazgolder collective. His most commercially notable release, a joint 2015 album with fellow rapper Basta, hit number one on Russian iTunes in its first week, outselling a Grigory Leps compilation. Later work includes a collaborative album with Guf and continued releases into the 2020s, including "TripSet," "Alpha," and "Kara-Te 2." In 2012, a Komsomolskaya Pravda poll ranked him the 7th most popular person from Saint Petersburg on the Russian internet, ahead of footballer Alexander Kerzhakov and actress Oksana Akinshina.
