History
Luv' was a Dutch girl group formed in 1976 in the Netherlands by record producers Hans van Hemert and Piet Souer, who were inspired by the German disco trio Silver Convention. The founding lineup, singers Patty Brard, José Hoebee and Marga Scheide, debuted in 1977 with "My Man," then broke through nationally with the TV theme "U.O.Me (Welcome to Waldolala)," written for the show Waldolala. Their sound was glossy Europop-disco built for radio and television. In 1978 the trio scored international hits with "You're the Greatest Lover" and "Trojan Horse," both million-sellers; "Trojan Horse" opened with a fanfare modeled on the 20th Century Fox theme and used a bagpipe hook. By 1979 Luv' had sold roughly 2.5 million records in three years and were named the Netherlands' best export act, winning the Conamus Export Award. The group went through several lineup changes and reunions over the decades, including a 2006 comeback reality show, and played their final concert in 2012.
