History
Honey Dijon plays and produces house music with a lot of disco in its bones and a hard techno edge underneath, a rowdy, physical style that treats the dance floor as a place of community rather than display. She grew up in Chicago and learned from the city's house scene, citing DJs such as Derrick Carter and Mark Farina, before moving to New York, where Danny Tenaglia became another key influence. She later split her time between New York and Berlin and built an international DJ career on long, energetic sets that jump between golden-era disco, classic house and dirty, rhythmic techno. As a producer she released The Best of Both Worlds in 2017 and Black Girl Magic in 2022, records full of guest vocalists, diva hooks and Chicago drum programming. She also worked on Beyoncé's Renaissance, which won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album, and scored runway shows for fashion houses including Louis Vuitton and Dior. As a Black trans woman in dance music she speaks openly about the club's roots in queer and Black culture, and her records carry that history in their sound.
