History
Galantis is a Swedish electronic music act formed in Stockholm around 2012 by producer Christian "Bloodshy" Karlsson and DJ-producer Linus Eklöw, known as Style of Eye. The two had met years earlier, in 2007, at Karlsson's Robotberget studio, and only found their shared sound after Eklöw remixed a track by Karlsson's band Miike Snow. Signed to Atlantic's Big Beat Records in 2013, Galantis built a style blending big-room EDM and progressive house with pop songwriting, anchored by piano and guitar foundations rather than loop-based production. Their 2014 single "Runaway (U & I)" was an international breakthrough, going platinum in Sweden and Norway, and was followed by hits including "Peanut Butter Jelly," "No Money," and "Gold Dust" across the albums Pharmacy (2015), The Aviary (2017), and Church (2020). Eklöw stepped back from the project after The Aviary, though he kept appearing in live shows through 2021, leaving Karlsson as the sole member. One genuine trivia hook: Karlsson co-wrote Britney Spears' "Toxic," which won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording, while Eklöw co-wrote Icona Pop's "I Love It."
