History
Dillon Hart Francis (born October 5, 1987, in Los Angeles, California) is an American DJ and electronic music producer who also performs under the alter ego DJ Hanzel. Emerging in the late 2000s, he became one of the key figures in popularizing moombahton and later pushed the genre into heavier, bass-driven variants such as moombahcore and EDM trap. His early break came when producer Diplo took notice of him, leading to the collaborative track "Que Que" with Maluca; his 2010 Swashbuckler EP followed on Play Me Records. Francis's 2014 major-label debut album, Money Sucks, Friends Rule, featured guests including Twista, Panic! At the Disco's Brendon Urie, and Major Lazer, and landed on Rolling Stone's list of the year's top electronic albums. His 2013 single "Get Low," made with DJ Snake, became his only track to reach the Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum in both the US and Canada. In 2018 he released Wut Wut, a Spanish-language album whose single "Sexo," featuring Residente and iLe, earned him a Latin Grammy nomination. Beyond music, Francis is known for comedic social-media content and small film roles, including in The Lego Movie 2 and Zoolander 2.
