History
Elsa (Elsa Lunghini, born 20 May 1973 in Paris) emerged as a French teen pop star in the late 1980s. Already a child actress, she sang the theme song for the 1986 film "La Femme de Ma Vie," the ballad "T'en va pas" — released when she was just 13. It topped the French singles chart for eight consecutive weeks, made her the youngest artist ever to hit number one there, earned her a Guinness World Record (broken only in 1993 by Jordy), and sold roughly 1.3 million copies worldwide. Her father, musician Georges Lunghini, helped shape her sound, a polished, string-laced synth-pop typical of French mainstream radio at the time. The 1988 album "Elsa" built on that success, going double-platinum with a run of top-10 singles, including a duet with Glenn Medeiros. At 17 she became the youngest headliner in the main program at the Paris Olympia. She kept recording into the 2000s, though never matched her explosive 1980s peak.
