History
Jakie Quartz, born Jacqueline Cuchet on 31 July 1955 in Paris and raised in Brittany, is a French singer-songwriter who emerged in the early 1980s. After a stage stint in the Casino de Paris musical "Revue et corrigée" alongside Annie Girardot and Catherine Lara, she teamed up with composer Gérard Anfosso for her 1983 debut album "Mise au point." Its title track became a summer 1983 hit, reaching number 2 in France and selling over 800,000 copies; it was later covered by Leslie (2007) and Quentin Mosimann (2008). The 1984 follow-up "Alerte à la blonde" featured a cover shoot by the duo Pierre et Gilles. She returned to the charts in 1986 with "Vivre ailleurs" (number 11, produced by Secret Service) and in 1987 with "À la vie, à l'amour," which also reached number 55 in the UK. After a quieter 1990s, she has kept performing on 1980s revival tours and released the single "Eldorado rêveur" in 2024.
