History
Ryan Paris is the stage name of Fabio Roscioli, an Italian singer, songwriter, and actor born on 12 March 1953 in Rome. Before turning to music full-time, he took small film roles, including a part in Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America. In 1982, while looking for a new keyboardist for his band the Gigolos, he met composer-producer Pierluigi Giombini, who wrote a song for him titled after Fellini's film La Dolce Vita, with lyrics by Paul Mazzolini (Gazebo). Released in 1983 under the new stage name Ryan Paris, "Dolce Vita" became a defining Italo disco anthem, topping charts across Europe, reaching number 5 in the UK, and reportedly selling more than 5 million copies, earning Paris multiple gold and platinum certifications. He never repeated that level of success, later being labeled a one-hit wonder in several markets, but kept recording and re-releasing versions of the song, including a 2010 remix that charted in France, and continued putting out new singles into the 2010s and beyond.
