2010s sample-based dubstep 140 from the 2010s: reverbed western guitar, sampled brass stabs, wobbling sine sub, theatrical and menacing in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

Commodo makes 140 music that borrows as much from grime and rap beats as from dubstep: sparse drums, cinematic atmosphere, analogue-sounding textures and a low end that hits hard without clutter. The project belongs to Dominic Tarasek, a producer and DJ from Sheffield who came up in the early 2010s. His reputation grew through releases on Black Acre and, above all, on Mala's Deep Medi Musik, where the Space Cash EP in 2013 set out his approach: tasteful sound design, odd samples, and arrangements stripped back to a few elements that each carry weight. Within the deep dubstep world he stands slightly apart, because his tracks often feel closer to instrumental grime or off-kilter hip-hop than to the meditative dub strain. A listener recognises Commodo by swung, head-nodding drums, playful melodic fragments over heavy sub, and a wit in the sampling that keeps the darkness from turning solemn.
