History

Camilo makes Latin pop at the small end: acoustic guitar, hand percussion, a reggaeton pulse turned down to something playable in a kitchen, and a voice that sounds like it is smiling. He worked as a songwriter for other artists before his own records broke, and the construction shows it, every song reaching its hook early and leaving quickly. Tutu was the crossover, built on a two-note figure and almost no arrangement. Vida de Rico landed during the pandemic and fitted the moment, a song about having nothing and not minding, carried by whistling and a strummed pattern anyone could copy. Favorito is the tender one. The trademarks are small and consistent: the whistle, the mustache, the falsetto lift at the end of a line, the habit of writing about domestic life instead of clubs. In a genre that mostly sells volume and swagger, he sells intimacy, and it turned out to scale.
