History
All Saints are an English girl group formed in London in 1993 under the name All Saints 1.9.7.5., built around Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis. After early lineup changes, sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton joined in 1996 and the group signed to London Records, settling into the quartet that became famous. Their self-titled 1997 debut album reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and produced three UK number-one singles: "Never Ever," "Under the Bridge"/"Lady Marmalade" and "Bootie Call." Blending R&B, pop and urban influences, they were often framed as a grittier, more street-credible alternative to the Spice Girls. "Never Ever" sold over 1.2 million copies in the UK and remains the second best-selling girl-group single in UK chart history, behind only "Wannabe." Their 2000 hit "Pure Shores," co-written with producer William Orbit for the film The Beach, gave them a fourth UK number one. After splitting in 2001, the group reunited more than once, releasing further albums including Studio 1 (2006) and Testament (2018).
