Style recipe for Suno v5
Industrial Rock
Industrial rock from the 1990s: distorted guitar, drum machine, aggressive synth, aggressive and menacing in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Industrial rock welded the harsh textures of industrial music onto rock guitars, taking shape in the late 1970s and early 1980s in Britain and the United States. Its forerunners were an odd pair: Suicide's 1977 debut and Iggy Pop's The Idiot, produced by David Bowie the same year, whose closing track Mass Production was built from tape-loop noise. Critics credit San Francisco's Chrome with starting the style, and Killing Joke, Swans and Big Black pushed it forward. The sound pairs distorted, aggressive riffs with synthesizers, samplers and drum machines. In Chicago the Wax Trax! label, run by Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher, became its hub, and Ministry fused it with thrash and hardcore on The Land of Rape and Honey in 1988. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails wrote his first song, Down in It, with Skinny Puppy's Dig It in his head, and The Downward Spiral went four times platinum. Marilyn Manson's Mechanical Animals even knocked Lauryn Hill off the top of the album chart. Industrial metal grew alongside, and in Europe Rammstein reached the widest audience of all.
