History
Seefeel formed in London in 1992, when guitarist Mark Clifford began writing tracks and recruited drummer Justin Fletcher via a college advert; vocalist and guitarist Sarah Peacock and bassist Daren Seymour joined soon after. Signed to Too Pure, the band released the More Like Space EP and debut album Quique in 1993, blending shoegaze guitar textures with ambient dub, techno, and dream-pop production. In 1994 they moved to Warp Records, reportedly the label's first act built around guitars rather than pure electronics, and released Succour (1995), a record critics linked more to Aphex Twin's influence than to their shoegaze roots. A mini-album, (CH-VOX), followed on Rephlex in 1996 before the band splintered, with Clifford continuing as Disjecta and the other members forming Scala. Seefeel reconvened in 2008 with new members Shigeru Ishihara (DJ Scotch Egg) and former Boredoms drummer Iida Kazuhisa, releasing the Faults EP and a self-titled album on Warp in 2010-2011. Critics regard the band as an early bridge between shoegaze and IDM/electronica.
