History
S Club 7 (later shortened to S Club) formed in London in 1998, assembled by Simon Fuller as a seven-piece pop act: Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt, and Rachel Stevens. Their sound was bright, hook-driven late-90s/early-2000s pop, built for radio and built for TV, since the group doubled as stars of their own CBBC series, Miami 7 (aired in North America as S Club 7 in Miami), a show credited with paving the way for later teen-musical hits like High School Musical and Glee. Over five active years they landed four UK number-one singles, among them the debut smash "Bring It All Back" and "Don't Stop Movin'," which topped the chart twice in one month and won the BRIT Award for Best British Single. Their album 7 (2000) hit number one in the UK and went triple platinum. The group sold over 10 million albums worldwide before splitting in 2003, following Cattermole's 2002 exit; they later reunited for tours in 2014-2015 and from 2023, though Cattermole died in April 2023.
