History
MakSim (Russian: МакSим), the stage name of Marina Sergeyevna Abrosimova, is a Russian pop singer, songwriter, and producer born June 10, 1983, in Kazan. She trained in piano and vocals at a music school as a child and first recorded under the name Maxi-M before adopting her permanent stage name, drawn partly from her mother's maiden surname Maximova and partly from her older brother Maxim. After a modest independent debut with the 2004 single "Santimetry Dykhaniya," she broke through nationally with her 2006 debut album "Trudny Vozrast" ("Difficult Age"), reported to have sold over a million copies and making her one of Russia's top-selling pop acts of that decade. Her second album, "Moy Ray" (2007), consolidated her fame with hits like "Znaesh li ty" and "Vetrom stat'." She continued releasing albums through the 2010s, including "Drugaya Realnost'" (2013) and "Khorosho" (2015). Notably, she has won twelve Golden Gramophone awards, and in March 2008 sold out a solo concert at Moscow's Olympic Stadium, one of the best-attended Russian pop concerts of that year.
