History
Ferry Corsten (born 4 December 1973 in Rotterdam, Netherlands) is a Dutch DJ, producer and remixer who became one of trance music's most prolific figures. He started DJing at school parties at 15, with roots in the Dutch hardcore gabber scene, and released his first production, "Spirit of Adventure," in 1991. In 1995 he won the dance category of De Grote Prijs van Nederland, and his 1996 single "Don't Be Afraid" (as Moonman) became his first UK chart hit. In 1997 he co-founded the Tsunami label with Robert Smit. Corsten has recorded under more than 30 aliases, most notably System F, whose 1999 track "Out of the Blue" reached the UK top 20, and Gouryella, an early collaboration with fellow Dutch trance star Tiesto. His remix of William Orbit's "Barber's Adagio for Strings" hit the UK top 5 and earned him Producer of the Year at the 1999 Ericsson Muzik Awards. By 2004 he ranked among the world's top DJs (No. 5, DJ Magazine). Since the mid-2000s he has released mostly under his own name and hosts the radio show Corsten's Countdown.
