History

ericdoa is the project of Eric Lopez, an American singer, rapper and producer who emerged from the digicore scene, the loose network of young artists who built a hyperpop-adjacent sound through SoundCloud and Discord at the turn of the 2020s. He first released music as killeric in 2018, put out the EP DOA in 2019 and followed it with his debut album COA in November 2020. His tracks move quickly between rapping and sung hooks over bright, clipped production: glitchy synths, pitched vocal effects and drums borrowed from trap, often cut short before they have a chance to settle. In 2021 he joined glaive for the joint release Then I'll Be Happy, one of the records that defined the moment when this online scene began reaching a wider audience. His second album, Things with Wings, came out in 2022 and was supported by his first headlining tour, and a third album, again titled DOA, followed in 2024, leaning further toward pop-rock guitars. A listener recognises ericdoa by his melodic, emotive delivery, catchy short hooks and restless, genre-hopping beats.
