Progressive house from the 2010s: rolling arpeggiated synths, sidechained bass, four-on-the-floor kick, hypnotic and euphoric in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

Cosmic Gate is a German trance duo formed in 1999 in Krefeld by producers Claus Terhoeven (aka Nic Chagall) and Stefan Bossems (aka DJ Bossi). Early singles like "The Drums" and "Exploration of Space" built their name, but it was "Fire Wire", released in the UK in 2001, that made them internationally known. Their sound moved from hard trance toward a more melodic, progressive style from the album "Earth Mover" (2006) onward, across releases including "Sign of the Times" (2009), "Wake Your Mind" (2011), "Start to Feel" (2014) and the two-part "Materia" (2017). They remixed acts such as Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Vanessa-Mae, and in 2015 co-wrote "Embargo" with Armin van Buuren. In 2009 they reached #19 on DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs poll. A genuine trivia highlight: in 2018 Claus Terhoeven earned a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording for their rework of Gabriel & Dresden's "Only Road", making Cosmic Gate the first trance act ever nominated in that category. In February 2026 Bossems announced his retirement from touring, with Terhoeven continuing the project alone.
