History
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as lead singer of the R&B group Destiny's Child, which she co-formed as a child; the trio configuration of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams sold more than sixty million records worldwide before disbanding in 2006, powered by hits like "Independent Women" and "Bootylicious." Her solo debut, Dangerously in Love (2003), produced the chart-topping "Crazy in Love" and won five Grammy Awards, launching a run of number-one albums including B'Day, I Am...Sasha Fierce, 4, Beyoncé, Lemonade, Renaissance, and Cowboy Carter, the last of which won Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammys for its exploration of country music's Black roots. She has also acted in films such as Dreamgirls and Austin Powers in Goldmember. Beyoncé holds the record for most Grammy Awards won by any artist in history, with 35 wins, and is the most-nominated female artist in Grammy history.
