Style recipe for Suno v5
Symphonic Metal
Symphonic gothic metal from the 2000s: full orchestra, twin guitars, double kick, theatrical and melancholic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Symphonic metal grew out of metal bands borrowing an orchestra and seeing what survived. In 1969 Deep Purple released Concerto for Group and Orchestra, a 50-minute piece keyboardist Jon Lord wrote for the band and the Royal Philharmonic under Malcolm Arnold; guitarist Richie Blackmore later remembered it as one big calamity on stage. Black Sabbath put strings on "Spiral Architect", the closer of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973). The style locked into place in the 1990s: the Swedish band Therion, named after the Celtic Frost album To Mega Therion, made Theli in 1996, and a year later Nightwish, Rhapsody and Within Temptation all released debuts. The sound rests on a soprano lead, often operatic, set against a choir and orchestral keyboards. Bands without an orchestra budget use workstation presets for strings, choirs and pipe organ, and many add a growling male voice for a contrast known as beauty and the beast. Lyrics lean on myth and fantasy, and concept albums are built like operas. The idea then spread outward: Dimmu Borgir pushed keyboards to the front of black metal, Metallica and Scorpions recorded and played with orchestras, and in 2013 Nightwish helped make a feature film out of their album Imaginaerum.
