Style recipe for Suno v5
Screamo
Screamo from the 2000s: tremolo picked guitar, clean arpeggio passages, frantic blast drums, raw and melancholic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Screamo started around 1990 in San Diego, where bands like Heroin and Antioch Arrow pushed early emo into harsher, more chaotic ground, then simply called the San Diego sound. The most influential records came out on Gravity Records, founded in 1991 by Heroin's Matt Anderson. The songs are short and chaotic: standard rock instruments, harmonized guitars, sudden swings of tempo and volume, and screams held back as a crescendo, a weapon saved for the emotional peak. Lyrics stay introspective and often political; Orchid name-checked Nietzsche, Foucault and the actress Anna Karina. In the late 1990s East Coast bands such as Pg. 99, Orchid, Saetia and I Hate Myself carried the style forward. Fans nicknamed the early San Diego groups spock rock for their dyed black hair and straight fringes cut like Spock's in Star Trek, a look that later shaped emo fashion. In the 2000s the name slid onto the melodic pop screamo of Alexisonfire, Poison the Well and the Used, and then onto almost anything with a scream in it. To reclaim the original sound, the scene adopted a joke name, skramz, coined by Alex Bigman of the San Diego bands Seeing Means More and Fight Fair.
