Style recipe for Suno v5
Neocrust
Neocrust dark hardcore from the 2000s: tremolo guitars, sludgy downtuned riffs, melodic leads, menacing and melancholic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Neocrust is the melodic, grander turn crust punk took in the 2000s. Crust itself was born in England in the early to mid-1980s, when Amebix and Antisect, two bands from the anarcho-punk scene, started pulling in heavy metal from Hellhammer, Motörhead and Trouble; the word crust comes from Hellbastard's 1986 demo Ripper Crust, named for the crusty look of the bands. One neocrust thread starts in the American South. His Hero Is Gone drew early on powerviolence and experimental music, but by their final album, The Plot Sickens in 1998, they had absorbed the Japanese hardcore style called burning spirits and made crust bigger and more melodic. Three of the members carried that sound into Tragedy. Meanwhile in Spain, Hongo, Das Plague and Ekkaia were crossing crust with screamo into what was then called emo crust. In the early 2000s the two lines merged, and by the mid-2000s neocrust was the most prominent style in the scene, with Tragedy, Fall of Efrafa and From Ashes Rise pushing it into more metal-heavy territory that still kept its melody and borrowed from post-rock. Trap Them then pulled the sound further toward hardcore and death metal.
