Style recipe for Suno v5
New Age
New age ambient from the 1980s: soft synth pads, wind chimes, pan flute, dreamy and warm in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
New age is defined less by instruments than by purpose: music for relaxation, meditation, yoga and calm, built from sustained synth pads and long sequencer runs or from flute, piano, acoustic guitar and non-Western instruments, often combining the two. Tony Scott's Music for Zen Meditation (1964) is considered the first new-age recording, Irv Teibel's Environments series brought natural soundscapes and Om chants from 1969, and Steven Halpern's Spectrum Suite (1975) is seen as the work that started the movement. Under the wider umbrella sit Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells from 1973, sometimes named among the first albums to carry the label, along with Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Kitaro, Yanni and Enya. Vocal strands came later, drawing on Native American and Tibetan chant and on Celtic legend, while Enigma and Era built records on Gregorian chant. The odd thing is how many of its stars reject the name. When the Grammy for Best New Age Album was first awarded in 1987, winner Andreas Vollenweider called it ridiculous to name something timeless, and Vangelis said the style gave untalented people the chance to make very boring music. For many it remains more a record-store shelf than a genre.
