Style recipe for Suno v5
Lo-Fi House
Lo-fi house from the 2010s: dusty sampled loop, muffled kick, warm round bass, nostalgic and warm in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Lo-fi house grew out of outsider house, the rough, raw strand of house that mixed deep house, techno, noise and ambient and chose lo-fi techniques over the polish of mainstream deep house and EDM. The parent term, "outsider dance", was coined in 2012 by the London DJ Ben UFO, who later called it an off-the-cuff formulation and said he was not happy to see it held up as a genre, because it did not do justice to the artists, who were his friends. Around the mid-2010s producers such as DJ Seinfeld, DJ Boring and Ross From Friends took those rough sounds and added the melancholy, irony and postmodern feel of vaporwave, making tracks described as melancholic 1990s deep house recorded to cassette and wrapped in a veneer of internet-age irony. The texture is what gives it away: muffled drums, fuzzy synths and a gauzy, saturated haze, alongside jazzy piano samples and warm percussion. Labels such as L.I.E.S., 1080p and Lobster Theremin carved out the signature sound the style is known by.
