Style recipe for Suno v5
Horror Punk
Horror punk from the 1980s: distorted guitar, driving drums, melodic bass, menacing and theatrical in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Horror punk welds punk rock to 1950s doo-wop and rockabilly and dresses the result in B-movie gore. The Misfits, formed in 1977, set the template: after recording Static Age in 1978 they started writing about science fiction and horror films, took the title character of The Crimson Ghost (1946) as their logo, and combed their hair into a point modeled on Eddie Munster that they named the devilock. The camp is older than punk, running back to Screamin' Jay Hawkins and the voodoo of "I Put a Spell on You", then to Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath, who worked horror through whole discographies. The name itself is credited to Screaming Dead, who printed it on posters for their 1982 single "Valley of the Dead". It skips punk's politics and plays up the cheese. After the Misfits split in 1983, Glenn Danzig carried the idea into Samhain, and the band's 1995 reunion with Michale Graves singing reached a wide rock audience. AFI's Black Sails in the Sunset (1999) and the Murderdolls led a new wave, My Chemical Romance drew on it, and in Russia Korol i Shut became the best-known followers, singing of vampires, zombies and werewolves.
