Style recipe for Suno v5
Funky House
Funky house from the 2000s: wah funk guitar, slap bass, brass stab, playful and warm in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Funky house is house music built from the parts of 1970s and 1980s funk and disco: often lush disco strings, funk basslines, soul and disco vocal loops and drum breaks modelled on old funk records, usually at around 128 BPM, with swooshes, swirls and filter sweeps giving it a bouncy lift. The style first took hold in the 1990s, and Daft Punk did much to popularise it with "Around the World" and "One More Time", both built on repeating basslines and filtered soul vocals. Thomas Bangalter of the duo founded the label Roulé to set this sound apart from other house by marrying classic funk to modern production. The peak came in the early and mid-2000s, when Defected, Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi and Fierce Angel all ran compilations dedicated to it, among them Defected's In the House series and Hed Kandi's Beach House. Joey Negro (Dave Lee), Armand van Helden and DJ Sneak shaped the sound. Funky house fed into tech house, nu-disco and UK funky, and its fingerprints are still audible in records like Fisher's 2019 tech house track "You Little Beauty", with its disco-flavoured vocal samples.
