Deathgrind
Deathgrind blast metal from the 2000s: blast beats, tremolo riffs, down-tuned guitars, aggressive and menacing in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Deathgrind is the meeting point of death metal and grindcore, described by Zero Tolerance as the two colliding head on and by Dan Lilker as death metal's technique joined to grindcore's intensity. The name came out of the specialist mail-order catalogues and zines of the 1990s extreme metal underground, as fans increasingly crossed the old line between the two styles. It uses both kinds of vocals, the death metal growl and the grindcore scream, and its songs run longer than grindcore but shorter than death metal, less chaotic and with room for a guitar solo. The genre's origin is usually tied to Carcass: Reek of Putrefaction (1988) was grindcore, while Symphonies of Sickness (1989) moved toward death metal. Napalm Death made a similar trip, from grindcore through the death metal of Harmony Corruption (1990) to the deathgrind of Utopia Banished (1992). A side project added some mystery: Brujeria, whose debut Matando Gueros came out in 1993, hid behind masks, though it is long known to include Shane Embury of Napalm Death and Jeff Walker of Carcass. Pig Destroyer, Misery Index and Cattle Decapitation carried the style into the 2000s, and today it often overlaps with technical death metal.
